The True Canadian Sport

The only valid thing you can do to prove your Canadian citizenship, is to test your love for hockey. I don't care if you love your home team or any other team in the league, if you love to watch hockey: Welcome to Canada.

In Montreal (AKA my home town), our team is the Montreal Canadians/Habs and our colors are red, blue and white. This city goes insane for their Habs, I am not joking. The Bell Center, which seats a cool 21 000 people, sells out almost immediately for regular season games and instantaneously for playoffs. The games also get broadcast on every sports channel, good luck finding any other sport on TV on game day!

With this many loyal fans there is a whole culture that goes with it. They want to connect with their fans in many more ways than just on game days and they make a valiant effort. A few examples:
  • Youtube channel (link below) where players compete in small challenges
  • 24CH - reality TV show which shows you behind the scenes (seriously amazing and addicting)
  • Give young fans opportunities of a lifetime by inviting them behind the scenes to meet the players, skate around the ring carrying the torch and lighting the ice on fire (link to video below)
They also work with a lot of charities, especially the Montreal Children's Hospital, and help them raise a lot of money. Last season, when the Habs were playing away games, they aired the game at the Bell Center and charged $10 per ticket, all of which went to charity. It is nice to see a team not only play well, but also recognize the influence and power they have and use it to help good causes and make as many people as they can happy.

I can't wait for this season to start and to get back into the hockey spirit! GO HABS GO!

My Favorite Foundations

My Top 5 Foundations

The Body Shop All-In-One BB Cream - $20
True Match LUMI - $11.99
Rimmel London Wake Me Up - $19.95
The Body Shop Extra Virgin Minerals - $25
L'Oreal Paris Magic BB - $15.99
The Body Shop All-In-One BB Cream
This is the best BB cream I have ever tried. It gives you such a dewy, glowing finish that is very natural, and not oily looking. I have oily skin, so dewy products tend to be a problem for me, because they make me look extra oily, not extra glowing. However, this BB cream I have no problem with and is one I use all year round. I don’t like to wear very heavy foundations or BB creams, I tend to sheer the out quite  bit, however, if you wear quite a thick layer of foundation or BB cream on your face, I wouldn’t recommend this one because it can look quite orange at times. I have shade 00 for the winter and shade 01 for the summer.

True Match Lumi Foundation
This foundation is my current favorite foundation. The color my skin so well, it is dewy but can be easily matted with powder, it lasts all day and it blends super easily. I honestly can’t think of anything bad about this foundation. I even love the packaging (having a pump on your foundation bottle always makes it a million times better)! I wear the shade C3.

Rimmel London Wake Me Up
The Wake Me Up collection is all around amazing. I wear the concealer every time I wear makeup and the foundation is also amazing. This is a pretty popular drug store foundation that I’ve heard a bunch of bloggers rave about and it certainly isn’t new to the market. It’s just a solid dewy, medium coverage foundation, that I think suits most people. I have the shade 303, but this is my summer color, so I need to go get another one in a lighter shade for the winter.

The Body Shop Extra Virgin Minerals Liquid Foundation
This one reminds me very much of the Rimmel London Wake Me Up foundation, in the way that it is a solid dewy, medium coverage foundation, and they have very similar consistencies. The only problem I have with this one, is the same problem I have with the BB cream from The Body Shop as well, which is that it can be a little orange in color. This is probably because I am cool toned, whereas the Body Shop most likely caries more warm toned foundations and BB creams. Overall, it is a good foundation, but I think you could go for the Wake Me Up foundation for the same quality for less expensive.

L’Oreal Paris Magic BB Cream
Finding a good BB cream at the drug store, that isn’t just a very lightly tinted moisturizer, can be quite difficult. This BB cream, however, is light coverage but you could easily build it up to a medium coverage. The thing I like the most about this product is the fact that it’s a matte BB cream, there aren’t a lot of these on the market, since BB creams are marketed as moisturizing and nourishing, therefore they are more often than not dewy. I wear the shade Medium.

Thanks for reading and I'll see you guys soon!

Haul #1

The Body Shop

A few weeks ago The Body Shop was having a sale online and in stores, so I decided to order a few things from their site. I've never really tried anything from The Body Shop, asides from a few hand creams or body butters my friends or family had, so this was the perfect opportunity to try out a few things I found interesting and thought I would like!

 Jumbo Coconut Shower Cream
Extra Virgin Minerals Compact Foundation shade 105 rose ivory
Tea Tree Oil
Mini Chocomania Lip Butter
Brazil Nut Body Scrub
Chocomania Body Butter
%100 Lip Roll-On Rose
All-In-One BB Cream shade 01

Jumbo Coconut Shower Cream

I am seriously in LOVE with this stuff. I personally hate moisturizing my body with lotions because of how it makes my skin feel oily afterwards. I feel like I can't touch anything and I feel super odd wearing clothes , no thank you! This product, however, has changed my life. You put it on in the shower, after yo have washed yourself and exfoliated, let it soak in for a little, rinse it off, and voilà! You are soft and moisturized without all the oily sticky feeling you get with lotions! Life changing.

Extra Virgin Minerals Compact Foundation shade 105 rose ivory

This shade is too light for me at the moment, since it is summer and I do have a bit of a tan, therefore I haven't tried it yet. I did swatch it on the back of my hand though and the texture feels amazing, so I'm really excited to try it out when my skin lightens up!

Tea Tree Oil

I've heard SO many good things about tea tree oil and how fast it clears your skin, so I decided to try it out as my skin did have quite a few spots on it. I didn't feel like this did anything to my face, it didn't reduce redness or swelling, but it didn't make them worse either. I tried it for a few weeks and eventually decided tea tree oil just wasn't effective for my skin!

Mini Chocomania Lip Butter

This lip butter makes your lips soooo soft and moisturized! The scent 'Chocomania' isn't my favorite, but I'll for sure be picking up some other scents as the quality of the lip butter itself is very good. It's also the perfect size for a handbag so it's super handy!

Brazil Nut Body Scrub

If I had to pick my favorite thing from this haul, it would oddly have to be this product. This body scrub has changed my entire shower routine and has made itself a permanent addition! The scent is to die for, it's quite rich and smells like a warm hug. It's more of a fall/winter scent, but I don't care and will use it year round!  It exfoliates your skin really well, it is quite a rough scrub, which not everyone likes, but i actually really like it. The scent lingers on your skin long after your shower, so if you decide to buy a body scrub from The Body Shop, make sure it's a scent you really like!

Chocomania Body Butter

As I mentioned before, I'm not a very big fan of lotions, but I decided to try this one since it was on sale. It leaves your skin very oily and sticky for a really long time after you put it on, however, it does moisturize your skin really well and leaves it incredibly soft. It's not the first lotion I go for but it's not the last either. Probably won't be repurchasing this product if I ever finish it!

%100 Lip Roll-On Rose

This is essentially oil in a roll-on tube and I love it. It makes your lips look so glossy and leaves them really moisturized. I also love how the roll-on bit is metal so it's cold when you apply it! It smells very fresh and floral, which is a nice change from the fruity scent you get with most other lip products. It doesn't last very long, since it is basically oil, but that is my one and only complaint.

All-in-One BB Cream shade 01

This BB cream has become my everyday go-to face product. It comes out white, but contains color changing beads that activate when you blend it in. It leaves a dewy finish, which I really like for during the day as it looks really natural and makes your skin glow! It has light to medium converage, which is perfect for daytime. This lasts all day on my skin with a little bit of powder on my T-zone and I don't have to do touch-ups. I highly recommend this product to anyone looking for a BB cream that is better quality than the drugstore ones, but not as expensive as the high end ones. I'm definitely going to buy the shade 00 for the fall/winter when my tan starts to fade and I can see this product becoming a staple in my makeup collection.

I hope this haul and review gave you a few ideas of products to get from The Body Shop! I'm sure I'll have another haul coming up soon since I shop way too much for my own good and my bank accounts good....opps!

Thanks for reading and I'll see you guys soon!

Current Music Obsession

The Franklin Electric

I am the type of person that when I fall in love with a band, an album, or even a single song, I will listen to it on repeat until I get sick of it. The band that currently holds the key to my heart and soul is The Franklin Electric.

They are a Montreal-based alternative folk-pop band and are not incredibly popular, however, they certainly deserve to be. This album helped me through a rough time in my life and it will always hold a special place in my heart. This album, to me, is one that I can constantly return to, knowing it will bring me joy and happiness. It is simply a little slice of heaven.

The Franklin Electric's album "This Is How I Let You Down" is honestly perfection. There is not one song on this album that I dislike, can you name any album that has that?? Other than this one, I can't.

My top 3 songs from this album are:
  • This is how I let you down
  • Old piano
  • Strongest man alive
I am no music expert, but for a first album, I would have to say that The Franklin Electric nailed it. I highly suggest you check them out, I doubt you will be disappointed!

Here are some links where you can find them and buy their music:

Ps. I listened to this album while I wrote this ☺
